Aging Waiver Services Action Alert

Pennsylvania recently made major changes to the Aging Waiver program.  Thousands of older Pennsylvanians depend upon these services to remain at home.  The Aging Waiver is vital to help avoid or delay admission to a nursing facility as well as help nursing home residents to be discharged back to the community from a facility with the help they need.  New policies, procedures, and rate changes may impact the ability of older Pennsylvanians to get needed care.  Older adults may find they are being discharged from a hospital to a nursing home instead of going home because Aging Waiver services cannot be arranged.  Current Waiver participants may also experience unwelcomed changes to their care plans or services such as having services cutback. How to Help Older adults, caregivers, and professionals who serve them, are encouraged to contact CARIE with concerns or questions.  CARIE, along with other advocates, want to ensure consumers are getting the services they are entitled to receive in a timely way.  Please share your story or experience so we can identify trends and advocate for change.
