CARIE’s Kathy Cubit Testifies before PA House/Senate Aging Committees

On October 28, 2016, Kathy Cubit, CARIE’s Director of Advocacy Initiatives testified before a joint committee hearing of the PA House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee and the Senate Aging and Youth Committee about issues related to the Aging Waiver enrollment process.

Kathy began her testimony with , “The Medicaid Aging Waiver is an essential program that allows older Pennsylvanians to live in the community as an alternative to a nursing home. On April 1, 2016, a major change to the application process for Aging Waiver services was implemented making it extremely difficult for older adults in need of Medicaid home and community-based services to access the program. For those who have been successful enrolling, the process has taken months and took great persistence to get around the obstacles.”
