Program Highlights

Setting CARIE apart from other resources in the aging field is its comprehensive array of outreach activities, advocacy, community education programs, training and problem resolutions and resource referral using a client-centered approach. CARIE serves as a vital resource for an ever-widening audience, including older adults, family members and caregivers, aging and other service providers, academicians, and policy makers.

Fiscal Year '05 (July 1, 2004-June 30, 2005)

Over 2,000 clients were assisted with 2724 problems through the CARIE LINE, and 86% of their problems were completely resolved through Carrie's intervention.

Four hundred twenty-six older victims of crime and abuse were provided with victims services, including court accompaniment.

Over 2,500 older adults, caregivers, community gatekeepers and professionals attended presentations by CARIE LINE staff. 

The Elderly Victims Emergency Security Fund secured the homes of 61 elderly crime or abuse victims by changing or adding locks, replacing windows, and/or repairing or replacing doors.

CARIE's Long Term Care Ombudsman Program investigated 343 complaints and provided information and consultation to 42o individuals.

Volunteers for CARIE's Pennsylvania Health Care Fraud Education Project (funded by theAdministration on Aging) educated nearly ten thousand Medicare beneficiaries through  presentations, and reached nearly 18,500 through information fairs.

CARIE reached over 1,320,000 with aging information through media coverage.
