Volunteer Opportunities - Board
CARIE has an all volunteer Board of Directors. Currently the capacity of the board is 15-20. Members come from all walks of life. Many of our members came to us with an affinity for our mission. They may be or have been caregivers for older adults or they may work with older adults—all of our board shares a passion for our mission.
The Board of Directors as a full group meets every other month for 1 ½ to 2 hours usually at CARIE’s center city office. Board committees are as follows:
- Executive Committee – members include the Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, and at-large members appointed by the Chair – this committee meets on alternating months
- Fund Development Committee – this committee is charged with working with staff to carry out its fundraising plan – the schedule varies according to the tasks assigned – it may meet as often as monthly
- Board Development Committee – this committee meets as needed to plan for recruitment and training of new board members and to facilitate training and support for the board
- Human Resources Committee – this committee meets as necessary to review and revise agency personnel practices, policies and benefits.
With the exception of the executive committee, board committees are open to interested volunteers who are not members of the board of directors.
Currently CARIE is looking for board members with expertise in the following areas:
- Fundraising
- Public Relations/Communications
- Accounting/Finance
- Human Resources
- Public Policy
- And others with an interest in improving the quality of life for vulnerable older adults
