- Mrs. G, a 76-year old Medicare HMO subscriber was told that in-home Oxygen, needed for her to remain independent in her home was not provided under her plan; a CARIE LINE advocate helped her get the Oxygen and she was able to stay in her own home.
- Mr. Z called on behalf of his friend, a 70 year old woman who desperately needed a hearing aid but could not afford it—the CARIE LINE advocate was able to help arrange for the client to see an audiologist, after an assessment was made, the advocate helped to access funds at a local foundation to pay for the hearing aid.
- Mrs. E, age 80 had her purse, keys, and identification stolen during a violent mugging—through a special CARIE fund, a CARIE LINE advocate was able to have Mrs. E’s door locks changed so when the attacker returned later that night, his efforts were thwarted.
This is just a short list to demonstrate some of the work we do. In addition, we have provided education for thousands of consumers so they can know their rights and learn about the resources available to them.
